Job Description:
Positive Action facilitators deliver the Why Try Program to a group of strong- willed teenagers every Thursday night from 5:30 to 8:00 for 10 weeks with 4 sessions a year. Positive Action provides the Why Try curriculum for facilitators to teach and the activities training to ensure quality and consistency in delivery. The classes start date is Jan 23, 2014 – Nov 20, 2014. The Curriculum Training will be Jan 15-16, 2013 from 8:00 to 4:00.
Experience Requirements:
– must also possess basic computer skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills- be comfortable with public speaking and group facilitation preferably working with students from
low-income communities
– must have, or currently pursuing, an associate’s degree
Primary Responsibilities:
– ensure that Positive Action (WhyTry) curriculum is delivered professionally and effectively to meet desired learning objectives
– maintain classroom management within a class of approx. 8-15 (6th -12th grade students)
– arrive punctually to set-up classroom and manage time during the course of the
workshops to ensure that all aspects of the lesson plan are delivered
– Facilitators will also be required to attend training meetings, provide feedback about program implementation, and be evaluated.
